Circle Square Design is a boutique architectural and interior design firm  with an extensive experience in the retail and commercial sectors. We pride ourselves on having over 20 years’ experience in the architecture and interior design fields bringing to clients our expertise, insight and passion for our craft.

Our intent is to transform creative ideas and concepts into beautiful and inspiring spaces delivered with personal and professional service. We do this through collaboration with our client, listening and responding to the brief coupled with our fundamental understanding of commercial realities.

Our particular focus on retail design allows us to offer our clients a complete service from design inception through to the final build. We have our own in-house fit out division allowing a seamless continuity through all stages.

We have had the pleasure to manage projects, on behalf of a diverse range of clients, such as: Westfield, Ipoh Pty Ltd, The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store, Flight 001, Mywalit,  IM Lingerie, LG Humphries & Sons Jewellers, Snowgum, Rodney Clark, Glue Stores, Trevor Victor Harvey presents: The Art of Dr Seuss, and many others.

Ian Etherington has over 20 years’ experience as an architect and designer, specialising in the field of retail and commercial design.

Ian brings to all his work his enjoyment of creating unique intelligent spaces that reflect the vision and intent of his clients.

His interest in theatrical spaces puts him in perfect alignment with the current retail and commercial climate that anticipates stores that are both beautiful and experiential, attracting consumers in an ever more sophisticated and competitive environment.

Ian approaches each project with a commitment to work collaboratively, achieving results that resonate with both the client and their clientele. 

He enjoys building professional relationships and has become an advisor to many clients as a consequence of his shared enthusiasm for the retail industry, his calm approach and ability to problem solve. 

Ian is committed to sustainable design principles, sourcing eco-friendly, recycled and sustainable materials as well as having socially responsible awareness to production of materials and products. He is currently undertaking a Masters of Sustainable Design at the University of Sydney.
